Assistant Professor – Invertebrate Biology

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Invertebrate Biology starting in August 2026.Research areas within the broad umbrella of Invertebrate Biology may include working with invertebrates in marine, freshwater, or terrestrial systems. Expertise of the applicant can range from cellular or organismal biology to community ecology and biodiversity, including the use of invertebrates as model systems for this broad search.

Lab manager: University of Toronto-Scarborough Campus

A full-time lab manager is sought to manage the rearing of insect colonies for three insect-focused labs in the Department of Biological Sciences. A primary job for the hire will be the production of germ-free cockroaches for lab-wide experimental use (we will train you on this method). Experience with sterile technique, using microbiological and molecular approaches, and using spreadsheet and word processor formats for data analyses and reporting are strongly encouraged. Additional duties involve training staff and students in animal care, ordering supplies and maintaining a safe lab environment. At least a high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must have at least two years of prior laboratory experience. Strong organizational skills and experience with Microsoft Office is required. Salary is negotiable and commiserate to experience.

MSc Student Position: Grape mealybug pheromone development for Niagara’s vineyards
Biological Sciences, Brock University; Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, ON
A position is available to research the development and application of a sex pheromone lure for the Grape mealybug, a scale insect vector of Leafroll virus in vineyards. Laboratory and field work will be at Brock University and Niagara’s vineyards.

MSc Student Position – Management of cyclamen mite in strawberry
A position is available to test the effects of strawberry transplant steam treatment on cyclamen mites and to evaluate the integration of multiple control strategies for cyclamen mites in strawberries. The position will be located at Université Laval in Quebec City (with Valérie Fournier) and at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research facilities in Vineland, Ontario.
