The ESC has established a new Director position for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). The EDI Director will be a voting member of the Board (https://esc-sec.ca/the-society/board-of-directors/) and will help guide the decision-making process of the Society with the aim to increase EDI within the Society and the science.
The Board normally meets twice during the Joint Annual Meeting and 2-3 times by phone or videoconference during the year. Directorships are unpaid positions with appointments for a 3-yr term.
Information on the roles and expectations of Board members is provided in the ‘Standing Rules’ and the ‘By-laws’ of the Society. These documents can be accessed in the ‘Members Area’ of the ESC website under ‘Societal Business’ (https://members.esc-sec.ca/page/ESCMemberHome).
If you wish to be considered for this new position, please send an email to ESC President Gail Anderson (ESCPresident@esc-sec.ca). Please include with your email, a statement (no more than 1 page double-spaced) to explain why you think you would be a good fit in this role, with particular emphasis on your commitments and experiences to EDI.
Directorships are filled by a majority vote of members participating in the Annual Meeting of Members on 20 October 2020. The information that you provide will be made available to the membership in French and English to help inform their decision.
