Thesis Title: The life history of Pseudips mexicanus and interactions with endemic populations of the mountain pine beetle.
Research Summary:
I have been studying the interactions between a secondary bark beetle, Pseudips mexicanus and endemic populations of the mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae in southern BC. My work aims at quantifying the effect of competition between the two species on mountain pine beetle reproductive success. Additionally, I am studying the life history of P. mexicanus, as very little work has been done on this innocuous beetle.
Keywords: competition, mountain pine beetle, endemic, Pseudips mexicanus, bark beetle ecology
