\nThe Joint Annual Meeting of the\u00a0Entomological Society of Alberta<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Entomological Society of Canada<\/a>\u00a0will be hosted in Edmonton, November 3-7, 2012 . All participants of\u00a0JAM 2012<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0eligible\u00a0to participate in the\u00a0photo competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The theme for the competition will be\u00a0Canadian Arthropods<\/strong>, in the following categories:<\/p>\n

1. Dead\u2013pinned or preserved specimens
\n2. Alive\u2013in the natural habitat
\n3. Dead or Alive\u2013predators with prey
\n4. Alive with mites\u2013insect mite\u00a0symbiosis\u00a0(Sponsored by International Journal of Acarology editor, Dave Walter)<\/p>\n

$150 will be awarded to the winner for each category and the \u201cAlive with mites\u201d winner may be offered the opportunity to be a cover illustration for the\u00a0International Journal of Acarology<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So far the judges include\u00a0John Acorn<\/a>, David Walter and myself, and we are looking forward to a wealth of\u00a0submissions\u00a0from all the many entomologists, amateur or professional, that will be attending JAM 2012.<\/p>\n

Nothing to submit? There is a whole season of delicious bug photography still ahead!<\/p>\n

The closing date for submissions is October 30<\/strong>, so get your macro lens on and get cracking! We are looking forward to a\u00a0biodiverse\u00a0flood of entries!<\/p>\n
