Entomological Society of Canada Travel <\/strong>Awards for the 2016 XXV International Congress of Entomology<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2016 Entomological Society of Canada (ESC) meeting will be held in conjunction with the\u00a0International Congress of Entomology (ICE) in Orlando, Florida, from September 25-30, 2016. Thanks to the generous support of Enterra Feed Corporation and Dow Agrosciences Canada the ESC is offering 14 cash awards of $750 to provide financial assistance for students and early professionals to travel to ICE 2016.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Eligibility: <\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The competition for the ESC ICE Travel Awards is open to students in a graduate program at a Canadian university, and to early professionals. Early professional membership applies to persons within 3 years (based on the calendar year) of graduation from their highest educational degree. Awardees must be members in good standing (dues paid) of the ESC at the time the award is given.<\/li>\n
  2. Graduate students or early professionals must present a paper or a poster at ICE 2016 on their own original research.<\/li>\n
  3. Individuals can accept either<\/strong> the ESC ICE travel award or an ESA STEP travel award (which will be announced around Dec. 1st<\/sup> 2015).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Deadline: <\/strong>December 21st<\/sup> 2015<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Applications to be submitted by email to: jsc21@sfu.ca<\/a> <\/strong>with the following in the subject line \u2013 Your last name and ICE 2016. <\/strong>The application must contain the following 3 documents in this order and be in a single pdf file. <\/strong>Any applications not meeting this format will not be reviewed<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Applications will be evaluated on:<\/strong><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

      \n
    1. A short Curriculum Vitae (no more than 2<\/strong> pages<\/strong>), that includes contact information, education, employment history, the most relevant publications, presentations, awards, grants and scholarships, other activities, outreach and service.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

        \n
      1. A one-page<\/strong> statement of significance which describes the scope and importance of the work to be presented and how attending the meeting will benefit the applicant.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Details of estimated costs for ICE 2016, indicating other sources of funding, either confirmed or applied for.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. In addition, arrange for a one-page<\/strong> letter of recommendation from your supervisor or a faculty member who is familiar with your research to be emailed to jsc21@sfu.ca<\/a> with your name in the subject line. This should also be a pdf.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Applications will be reviewed by the Students Awards Committee of the ESC. Winners will be notified by mid-January (i.e. before the deadline for abstracts).<\/p>\n

La comp\u00e9tition pour les bourses de voyage SEC ICE est ouverte aux \u00e9tudiants dans un programme de cycle sup\u00e9rieur dans une universit\u00e9 canadienne et aux jeunes professionnels. La cat\u00e9gorie de membre jeune professionnel s\u2019applique aux gens ayant gradu\u00e9s de leur plus haut dipl\u00f4me il y a moins de 3 ans (selon l\u2019ann\u00e9e de calendrier). Les r\u00e9cipiendaires doivent \u00eatre membres en r\u00e8gle (frais d\u2019adh\u00e9sion pay\u00e9s) de la SEC au moment o\u00f9 la bourse est remise.<\/li>\n
            2. Les \u00e9tudiants gradu\u00e9s ou jeunes professionnels doivent pr\u00e9senter un oral ou une affiche lors de l\u2019ICE 2016 sur leurs propres recherches originales.<\/li>\n
            3. Les individus peuvent accepter la bourse de voyage SEC ICE ou<\/strong> une bourse de voyage ESA STEP (qui sera annonc\u00e9e autour du 1er<\/sup> d\u00e9cembre 2015).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
